Dear Bel, Sixty years ago, while serving in the Royal Navy, I met my current wife and got engaged. Unfortunately, I had to take my ship to Gibraltar for a long refit, which meant remaining there for 18 months. In time I got the inevitable 'Dear John' letter and that was that. We each married different partners but much later I divorced and she was widowed. We always wondered what happened to each other and got in contact six years ago.

At first glance, the Southstone neighborhood that sits along South Austin's West Dittmar Road looks like any other construction zone. But residents living near the development site claim builders have not lifted a hammer or nail since work abruptly came to a halt in 2022.
