CBS' long-running true crime program48 Hoursis launching a new podcast and video series that takes a closer look at major criminal cases unfolding today.

According to the trailer — an exclusive of which was shared with PEOPLE and can be watched below — each episode aims to break down what’s happening in significant cases, why they matter and what developments could come next, whether it’s a high-profile trial or a newly revived cold case.

48 Hours: Case by Casehighlights several cases, including those involvingLuigi Mangione, who is accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEOBrian Thompson;Nick Reiner, who is charged with the murders of his parents, Hollywood directorRob Reinerand Michelle Reiner; andDuane “Keefe D” Davis, whom prosecutors allege orchestrated the 1996 killing of rapperTupac Shakur.

The series is anchored by a "rotating team of trusted48 Hourscorrespondents, including Anne-Marie Green, Erin Moriarty, Natalie Morales, and Peter Van Sant — extending the broadcast’s investigative authority into a faster, more reactive format," a press statement reads.

It is set to premiere on April 17, with new episodes released every Friday.
