AI specialists have released a damning research concerning the potential way forward for synthetic intelligence and its influence on humanity.

The 12 specialists have been interviewed by a workforce of cybersecurity researchers led by teachers from Lancaster College.

They have been asked how the technology might change the world by 2040.

One concerning part of the research revealed several specialists have been concerned about AI causing a number of deaths.

The research states: "The attainable scale of the issues anticipated by our interviewees is eye-watering.

"A lot of the specialists predicted exponential progress in AI over the subsequent 15 years, leading to a large risk of systemic problems.

"Two specialists (P4 and P10) thought-about a million-death incident attributable to the irresponsible deployment of AI techniques affordable in the 2040 time-frame.

"Others disagreed, although several recommended many smaller, maybe ten-thousand-death, incidents."

The specialists didn't clarify intimately how AI might cause all these deaths but discussed the unfavourable impression it might have on democracy.

They revealed considerations about AI making fact indistinguishable from fiction.

The research members suspect AI will result in a larger spread of misinformation and that would have ramifications for democratic societies.

Dr Charles Weir, the lead writer of the research, stated: "We are already seeing misinformation on social media networks, and used by some nation states.

"The specialists are forecasting that advances in applied sciences will make it a lot easier for individuals and dangerous actors to proceed spreading deceptive material by 2040."

It's hoped that forecasting worst-case situations might assist us shield the world from them.

Weir stated: "Know-how advances have brought, and will proceed to convey, nice benefits.
